Giovanna Perricone is Associate Professor of Developmental and Education Psychology and Pediatric Psychology at the University of Palermo. His current areas of interest are: the training of operators in the prevention of the health area, the Pediatric Psychology area, and the conditions of evolutive risk. She is the scientific coordinator of a Experimental path of the University related to the Hospital, University, Pediatric, Multipurpos, Interistitutional, Experimental Center (C.E.S.I.P.P.U.O’.) at the Villa Sofia-Cervello Hospital in Palermo. The interest to define an integrated organizational model for taking care of the child in pediatric conditions has oriented this experimentation, but it develops from a long path of research and research-intervention, activated at the Research Unit of Pediatric Psychology of the Department of Psychological, Pedagogical and Educational Sciences. Several international and national publications have collected the results of some studies in the area of Pediatric Psychology, both as regards developmental impairments and correlations between these and chronic, acute or cancer diseases, and as regards the coping processes of children in condition pediatric and family. Some studies have focused on specific prenatal developmental conditions. She is the president of the Italian Society of Pediatric Psychology and coordinates a Research Unit on child neglect, that is proceeding on the construction and validation of a child neglect detection tool, which allows to identify conditions risk and possible predictors.
